July 23rd is the date for Tulia’s Summer Celebration, hosted by NewsChannel 10 – KFDA.  Tulia’s downtown square is the place where face painting, music, The Tommy Gallagher Band, games, food, and vocal auditions for Amarillo Star Competition will be held.  For an entry form to participate in this vocal competition, call the Tulia Chamber at 995-2296, or stop by the Chamber Office, located in the Swisher Memorial Building.  Channel 10 will be having their newscasts at 5, 6, and 10:00 pm.  Plan to join this swinging time in Tulia!!

There are two festive events coming up in Tulia that you will need to add to your summer calendar.  July 17th (Saturday) will be celebrated as Swisher Co. Picnic.  Activities included will be:  parade, barbecue, rodeo, downtown square activities, and many class and family reunions.  Watch for more information on any of these happenings.  July 23rd (Friday) will be Tulia’s Summer Celebration hosted by NewsChannel 10 (KFDA).  There will be great music, food, games, Amarillo Star Competition try outs, and newscasts at 5, 6, and 10:00 pm.  Plan to be there!!

Tulia’s Memorial Day Service honoring Veterans and Military Troops will be Monday, May 31st, starting at 10:00 am.  Rose Hill Cemetary, located south of Tulia will be the service site.  Swisher County Museum will be open afterward, refreshments will be served.

Tulia C of C Big Bass “MAYDAY” Tournament, Sat., May 1st………Lake Mackenzie, near Silverton, TX…$40 entry fee per boat (50% payout)..come by the Chamber office to pay entry fee, or call Apryll at 995-1989 for information..Many other prizes awarded!

A Chamber ribbon cutting will be held April 21st at 1;30 pm in the chamber office parking lot for Tulia’s new business Comfort Air Solutions.  This business’ areas of work are air conditioning, heating, and bathroom remodels.

Home grown clean county/gospel baritone, David Nall, will be presenting a concert on April 23rd at Tulia’s Sr. Citizen’s Bldg.  A meal will be served at 6:00, concert starts at 7:00.  $10 for both meal and concert, $5 for concert only.  Everyone will be totally entertained!!

Award winners at Tulia’s Chamber Banquet were:  Glenda Gibson – Woman of the Year, Larry “Happy” Cole – Man of the Year, Mary and Louie Edwards – Pioneer Spirit Award, Swisher Memorial Hospital District – Business of the Year, Soil Menders – NRCS Ag Business of the Year, Jeannett Herring – President’s Award and Jami Bremmer – Hustler Award.  Congrats to these deserving people and businesses!!

Tulia’s Chamber is very proud to introduce a new business into our community.  Tangles, Bangles, and Blooms is holding an all day Open House on April 9, 2010.  There will be a Chamber Ribbon Cutting on this same day at 1:30 pm.  They are located at 147 E. Broadway (formerly Linda’s Salon).
