Former stand out Dallas Cowboy Drew Pearson will be in Tulia December 9th.  He will be speaking motivationally to THS and TJHS students at 2:00.  That night at 7:00 in the THS auditorium his appearance will be free to the public.  Call the Chamber office at 995-2296 for further information.

Add this event to your calendar:  Silent Auction Thursday, Dec. 10th, 6:30 pm.  Swisher Co. Senior Citizen’s Building will be the site of  the action.  All proceeds will benefit Tulia’s Driskill Halfway House.  Free admission, free food and free entertainment!  Fund raisers include raffles for a Kawasaki 4-Wheeler and a $5,000 Visa Card.

For those of you who wrote on our blog page, commenting that you are disappointed that the page would be discontinued, it is back!  Several of you said that this is a way for long-distance friends to keep up with what is happening in Tulia, and we will do our utmost to keep it current.  Thanks for commenting, it is read and considered!  And, by the way, there is plenty happening in “movin and shakin” Tulia!

Plans are underway for Christmas in Tulia!  The date will be Sunday, November 15th.  Businesses in our town will be open for their individual open house 2-4 pm; please call the Chamber office at 995-2296 if your business wants to participate.  In addition, Swisher Co. Senior Citizen’s building will be open with booths of home businesses, homemade goods, and fundraisers. Time is 2 - 5 p.m.

Swisher Co. Museum is also planning to have a fund raising activity featuring Christmas pictures of families on Sat. and Sun. (Nov. 14th & 15th) 2-4 pm each day.  Pictures will be snapped by “Pictures by Jody”,  the vintage carriage will be used, and Santa will be there!

The Tulia Chamber Board would like to welcome Shelly Borchardt as New Director of the Tulia Chamber of Commerce. We are going to have a very busy year and are glad to have her on our team.

Shelly grew up in Tulia, graduated from THS, raised her son here, and thinks that Tulia is a great place to live!  Her number one goal is to encourage and promote Tulia’s businesses, and to attract new ones.

As you might know we are with out a Director at the moment and the Board Members are working overtime to make sure the Chamber always has a place in Tulia.

Your board members are: Jeannett Herring, President, Mary Matsler, Vice President, Bonnie Daniels, Secretary, Jami Bremmer, Brent Kennedy, Bill Rousseau, Zane Taylor, Marcus Scarborough, John James, Jim Koulavatos, Josh Moore, and Apryll Van Pelt.

The board would also like to thank Susie Bradley for staying with us and helping us through the tough times.

The Tulia Chamber of Commerce is taking donations for a Rummage Sale that they are hoping can become an annual event. Call for donation pick-up at 995-2296 or it can be delivered to the Chamber or the Panhandle Community Services.
